Look on the Insert ribbon. It does hide a bit in the Windows version and isn't intuitive. Click the "Insert Table" icon and look at the very bottom of that pop-up for "Convert Text to Table." All other steps are the same. Thanks for asking!

That can happen over the span of a decade. But good news! This 100% still works in the free Acrobat Reader and in Acrobat Pro. I just tested it. It's common for software to change function without notice, but the usual problem is that the PDF is being viewed in a web browser and not in the full Acrobat program (either Reader or Pro). By "ribbons", do you mean the red lines in the margin indicating there is a tracked change on that line? Switch to "no markup" or "final view." That will also hide all of the tracking so all the type looks black. You can also "accept all changes" (or reject) to make this permanent. There's a lot more to do with Track Changes, which is covered at great length in the book (eiw365.com). Thanks for your question.

@scieditor No, because this doesn't allow one to see the changes. It only accepts, then gets rid of all the underlining, strikethroughs, etc

Same as in any (most) programs: ctrl + C then ctrl + V (which means cmd + C or V if you're using a Mac). That can't be said for every Adobe program, so your question is warranted. Thanks for watching!

@@andreaidso9875 Sometimes it's just a matter of saying the right incantation or leaving an offering to the Adobe gods. Glad it resolved itself; often these snafus do.

The easiest way it to copy and paste your text into Word, change your font size as you need and copy and paste back into the callout box/text box. If you have more than one textbox, make the properties of your current textbox the default property. Every textbox created after, will have those properties. You can also copy and paste your textbox and just change the text.

The easiest way is to double-click in a box, select all the text, the change the properties. Click cmd + E (or ctrl + E) to access properties. If you only click once you'll get properties for the box, not for the text inside it.

Fill in the user settings in your software. This sets the name that is displayed with your annotations and comments. In Reader XI, those details are set in preferences, under “Identity.” (on the Mac version)

Hugs to you, friend. Some of the frustration you're feeling is because they keep changing the names of the product and of the tools within it. - Let's go off into a big canyon and scream. So, at present, the free version shown in the demo is called Adobe Reader XI. That's eleven. Adobe is the name of the company; they used to make a program called Acrobat that had three versions: Standard, Pro, and the free Reader. Whee, let's throw all the names in a bag and see what new combos come out! (The "polygon line tool" is now a "draw connected lines" tool. Though, probably, more people understand what it does now. And the "Text Edits" are now "Annotations" - which may also make sense since you can actually change (edit) the words in a PDF with the Pro version of the program not just annotate (mark up) what is on the page.) As for the rest of your frustration: let's call that a "feature" and just pour ourselves another tall one. If you're interested in another level of frustration, the tools available change depending on whether the program opens on its own or within a browser.
